COSTUME CONTEST RULES
Eligibility: All participants must be current 人民瓜报 students, faculty, or staff. District employees are welcome to participate.
Originality: Costumes must be original or creatively adapted. Store-bought costumes are allowed but should be personalized or enhanced for extra points.
Appropriateness: Costumes must be appropriate for a campus setting. No offensive, discriminatory, or overly revealing costumes will be permitted.
Safety: Costumes should not pose a safety risk. No sharp objects, real weapons, or hazardous materials allowed. Ensure that mobility and vision are not restricted.
Props: Props are allowed but must be manageable and safe. Be mindful of space and others when using larger props.
Participation in Costume Contest: Participants must check in behind the Campus Center main stage between 12:15 and 12:45pm on October 31 to register for the contest. Late arrivals may not be judged. All registered contestants must return behind the stage at 1pm to participate in the contest. All participants will display their costumes on stage.
Judging Criteria: Costumes will be judged based on creativity, effort, originality, and relevance to the chosen category.
Group/Duo Entries: All group members must coordinate costumes, and the group must remain together during judging.

COSTUME CONTEST CATEGORIES
1. Best Dressed from the 1960s
Get groovy with bold colors, bell-bottom pants, tie-dye shirts, peace signs, and round sunglasses. Channel the flower-power era or go mod with a mini skirt and go-go boots.
Or... step back into the classic collegiate style of the early '60s! Picture yourself as a student in 1964鈥攖hink neat cardigans, plaid skirts, loafers, and preppy button-down shirts. From lettered athlete sweaters, ties, or blazers with clean-cut hairstyles to a modest look with headbands, knee-length skirts, and flats, capture that timeless and polished look of campus life in the mid-60s!
2. Spookiest Costume
Show your haunting side with eerie ghost costumes, tattered cloaks, 鈥僡nd dark, shadowy figures. Think glowing eyes, spooky makeup, and a 鈥僼errifying atmosphere. 鈥傿ring chills to the party with a spine-tingling look!
3. Funniest Costume
Bring on the laughs with hilarious costumes, from oversized food items to quirky characters. Think of something silly, like a giant banana, or a pun-based costume to keep everyone laughing.
Examples of pun-based costumes could include:
- 鈥淐eiling Fan鈥: Wear a shirt that says, "Go Ceilings!" and carry pom-poms, pretending to cheer for the ceiling
- "Holy Cow鈥: Wear a cow costume with angel wings and a halo.
- "Formal Apology鈥: Wear formal clothes (suit or formal dress) and carry a sign that says "Sorry.")
4. Best Homemade Costume
Display your creativity with a DIY costume. Cardboard robots, hand-stitched animals, or repurposed household items can make a standout look. Impress everyone with your originality and crafting skills.
5. Most Creative Costume
Push the boundaries with out-of-the-box ideas. It could be a mash-up of different characters, a high-concept theme, or an artistic take on a popular trend. The sky鈥檚 the limit for innovation here!
6. Best Duo or Group Costume
Team up with your friends for a coordinated look. Think of iconic pairings or famous ensembles like superheroes, TV show characters, puns, or themes that tie all your costumes together in a fun and unified way. The key to this category is coordination and teamwork.
