Join WVC's School of Science and Math for its annual STEM EXPO!

ÈËÃñ¹Ï±¨â€™s STEM EXPO is a dynamic, one-day showcase of student innovation in science, technology, and sustainability. As a featured event of STEAM·D Fest, the EXPO highlights student work in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analysis, engineering, physics, renewable energy, and wildlife conservation. Guests are invited to explore hands-on demonstrations and research projects through self-guided tours from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Science & Math Courtyard.

The program officially begins at 4:30 PM with a welcome from Dean Mel Vaughn at the Jean and E. Floyd Kvamme Planetarium. From there, visitors can meet student researchers, experience interactive exhibits, and engage in the exciting ideas shaping the future of STEM. Join us in celebrating the talent and creativity of West Valley’s student community!

Must see activities include:

Silent Hunters: California Owl Program

Prepare to be amazed by the Silent Hunters of the night sky! The Wildlife Education & Rehabilitation Center will introduce four incredible ambassador owls — great horned, barn, screech, and burrowing owls — and reveal their vital ecological roles. This is a rare opportunity to see these majestic birds up close, learn about their survival strategies, and discover how we can help protect their habitats. A must-see for nature lovers of all ages!

Immersive Experience: A Journey Through Space and Time

Step into the Jean and E. Floyd Kvamme Planetarium for a breathtaking, full-dome experience that transports you beyond Earth. Explore the wonders of the cosmos—from star formation and planetary systems to the mysteries of dark matter—through stunning visuals and expert-guided presentations. Whether you're an aspiring astronomer or simply curious about the universe, this immersive journey offers a profound look into the science and beauty of the night sky. Space is limited, so and use passcode STEAMD25 to get your free tickets before they run out!

Lab Rats STEM Club: Science Without Limits

Step into the world of innovation with the Lab Rats student STEM Club! From building next-generation solar cells that capture the power of sunlight, to unlocking the secrets of plant-fungal relationships, to crafting ice core models that reveal the story of ancient climates — our students are pushing science beyond the classroom. Explore cutting-edge projects that blend creativity, technology, and environmental discovery, and see how the Lab Rats are leading the charge into the future of STEM.

Student Spotlights: Science in Action

Showcasing the bold ideas and creative solutions emerging from ÈËÃñ¹Ï±¨â€™s student community, students present a dynamic collection of posters highlighting research, innovation, and entrepreneurship across disciplines. Featured among the presenters are "ReMatch," finalist for the first annual West Valley Hackathon competition, recognized for their groundbreaking app concept and awarded a top prize of $5,000 from the Entrepreneurial Center for their Business Pitch competition.

Stanford Graduate Student Panel: Your Future Starts Here

This panel is built for students looking to take their next big step. Hear directly from Stanford University graduate students — including ÈËÃñ¹Ï±¨ alumni — as they share real-world insights into research, graduate school, and beyond. Learn how they navigated the journey from community college to one of the world’s top universities. Bring your questions, gain insider advice, and see how your own path to success can start right here, right now.

Discover Biology: Animals, Ecosystems, and Human Health

Dive into the wonders of biology! From climate change to animal behavior, this showcase has it all. See students present mind-blowing research on everything from redwood survival under the climate crisis to the fascinating world of soft-bodied animals. Plus, get your hands dirty with exciting, interactive science — blood typing, climate change simulations, and more! It’s biology like you’ve never experienced before — real, raw, and ready to explore.
